Brachioplasty – Arm Lift

What is Brachioplasty Surgery?

Brachioplasty, commonly known as an arm lift, is a surgical procedure designed to reshape and tone the upper arms by removing excess skin and fatty tissues from the upper arms. It is not a treatment for being overweight. Overweight individuals who intend to lose weight should delay all forms of body contouring procedures until they have achieved a satisfactory weight that they can reliably maintain.

Why Have an Arm Lift?

This procedure is particularly suitable for individuals who are experiencing sagging skin as a result of ageing, significant weight loss, or genetic factors.

Opting for an arm lift can help you achieve a more defined and toned look in your upper arms. Through the removal of excess skin and fat, Brachioplasty can create smoother and firmer arm contours.

An arm lift can also alleviate physical discomfort caused by excess skin. Issues such as chafing, irritation, and difficulty in finding well-fitting clothing can be eliminated through this procedure. By improving your comfort and quality of life, an arm lift can make everyday activities more enjoyable.

Furthermore, excess skin and fat in the upper arms can often lead to self-consciousness, particularly when wearing sleeveless clothing or swimwear. An arm lift can allow you to feel comfortable and confident again.

How is Arm Lift Surgery Performed?

The specific technique used in your arm lift will depend on the amount of excess skin and fat and your unique anatomy.

Common techniques include:

Traditional Brachioplasty

This involves making an incision along the inner arm, from the armpit to the elbow. Excess skin and fat are removed, and the underlying tissue is tightened to create a smoother, more toned appearance.

Mini Brachioplasty

For those with minimal excess skin, a shorter incision confined to the armpit area may be sufficient.

Extended Brachioplasty

For individuals with significant excess skin extending to the sides of the chest, a longer incision may be made to address these areas.

Brachioplasty procedures may differ according to the needs of the patient and may be combined with other body contouring procedures, such as suction assisted lipectomy (liposuction); thigh lifts; abdominoplasty; and breast procedures. Your treatment request may require some of these additional procedures, and this will incur greater cost than brachioplasty alone.
