Thigh Lift

What is a Thigh Lift?

Thigh reduction/lift is a surgical, body contouring procedure to remove excess skin and fatty tissues from the inner thighs.

It is not a treatment for being overweight. Overweight individuals who intend to lose weight should delay all forms of body contouring procedures until they have achieved a satisfactory weight that they can reliably maintain.

Why Have a Thigh Lift?

A thigh lift is an ideal procedure for individuals who have undergone significant weight loss or are experiencing sagging skin due to aging.

Many people choose to undergo a thigh lift to attain a more defined and toned appearance in their thighs. By removing excess skin and fat, this procedure creates smoother contours, enhancing the overall shape of your legs.

Excess skin and fat on the thighs can often lead to self-consciousness, especially when wearing shorts, swimwear, or fitted clothing. A thigh lift can greatly boost your confidence by allowing you to feel more comfortable and self-assured.

A thigh lift can also alleviate physical discomfort such as chafing, irritation, and difficulty in finding well-fitting clothing. By eliminating excess skin, this procedure can make everyday activities more comfortable and improve your overall quality of life.

Furthermore, a thigh lift can help improve the overall proportions of your body, particularly if you have experienced significant weight loss. It can contribute to a more balanced body shape.

How is Thigh Lift Surgery Performed?

The specific technique used in your thigh lift will depend on the amount of excess skin and fat and your unique anatomy.

Common techniques include:

Inner Thigh Lift

This focuses on the inner thigh area and involves an incision in the groin crease, extending down towards the knee if necessary. Excess skin and fat are removed, and the remaining skin is tightened.

Outer Thigh Lift

This addresses the outer thigh and hip area, typically involving an incision that extends from the groin around the hip. This technique is often combined with a lower body lift.

Medial Thigh Lift

This targets the upper portion of the inner thigh and involves an incision in the groin, extending down to the back of the thigh.

Thigh lift procedures may differ according to the needs of the patient and may be combined with other body contouring procedures, such as suction assisted lipectomy (liposuction); brachioplasty; abdominoplasty; and breast procedures. Your treatment request may require some of these additional procedures, and this will incur greater cost than a thigh lift alone.

Other Information

  • Having liposuction performed before or after a tummy tuck procedure to reduce the thickness of the abdominal wall, can be beneficial, although the outcomes may vary. It is important to note that liposuction on its own may not yield as significant results as a tummy tuck.

  • Having an extended tummy tuck, where excess skin and fat are removed from the lower back and above the hips. As a result of this surgery, the scar extends around to the lower back.

  • An apronectomy, which is a modified tummy tuck suitable for individuals with excess skin and fat protruding over the pubic region. During this surgery, only the excess skin and fat are removed, resulting in a long scar running horizontally.

  • If you have scars from previous operations, the usual tummy tuck may be modified to suit the scars.
